The Show Begins

Hello All
The long awaited Blog will now begin. The last week has been full of uncomfortable and anxious experiences, like the time Kristy got into the wrong car at hover dam, but anyway we will start from the beginning.

The story kicks of in LA...

We arrived in LA early in the morning and managed to check into the hotel. We had a nap (after morning tea - a giant waffle!) before Kimbo and Bromley (people we are taking over from)picked us up to see the sites. Well, after being lost for hours, we finally tracked down someone who sold 'Star Maps' (for a hefty cost of $10) so we could see the stars Hollywood homes. Although there was no sighting of Paris (too bad Ryan) due to renovations, we did have a little squiz at old Huey Hefner's house - The Play Boy Mansion. There was a party on too, but no invites for us. We then headed to Santa Monica Pier for a walk before finding a restaurant for lunch\dinner in Hollywood. We then hit the street and wandered along the walk of fame...

Good 'ol Brittany

Also, Hollywood isn't like they make it out in the movies - it really is a bit of a dive mixed with a lot of freaks, but its somewhere you just have to visit. After a huge day and not much sleep, we went back to the hotel (in a safe and relatively crime free area, unlike Kimbo and Bromley who had the cops raid the room across the hall!). The next day we were off to Universal Studios.

Ryan out the front of Universal Studios

We started the morning off with a ground tour of the studios. Ryan thought it would be fun to watch Fear Factor Live (same as the TV show, but not recorded). As soon as the coordinators heard our accents, they asked us to participate in the show. I was a bit reluctant, however Ryan was keen. It was OK for him, because he got to spin the wheel that decided which bugs would be stuck on my head and face whilst my head was in a perspex box...

Scorpions on my face

He spun up live desert scorpions - 8 of them in that little box with my head. I wasn't impressed - at least it wasn't snakes, spiders or cockroaches!

Later that night we watched the Superbowl (Gridiron grand final) in some random club in Beverly Hills. It cost us $20 each (i negotiated 2 free drinks to be thrown in) and somehow we managed to get dinner for free too!

Dear Ryan & Kristy.
Glad to hear you're having an exciting time. Your house looks fantastic although it must be really, really cold. We are still in Darwin and your place is certainly a world away, as it is soooo very, very hot here. Matilda is beautiful and Dave and Cas are enjoying being new parents. Enjoy your adventure and take care of yourselves. Don't come back with a yankie accent.
love from Aunty Julie, Uncle Phil, Dave, Cas & Matilda, Mitchell & Thersia
Love fro
